Express Entry
The Canadian Express Entry system is not an immigration program, rather it is a way for Canada to manage the intake of skilled worker applications, rank applicants and select those who have the required skills and experience to successfully establish themselves in Canada.
Express Entry Criteria
Applicants must meet the minimum requirements of ONE of the following immigration programs to enter the Express Entry Pool:

The Canadian Experience Class

The Federal Skilled Worker Class

The Federal Skilled Trades Class
Please be advised that meeting the minimum criteria for any of the above programs will NOT guarantee you an invitation to apply for permanent residence. It is an initial step in a multi-stage process through the Express Entry system.
Express Entry Process
Once you met the criteria for one of the skilled worker programs and have filed an application through the Express Entry system, you will be ranked according to CIC’s Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
The Comprehensive Ranking System is based on a 1200 point ranking system. Candidates will then be ranked against each other. The highest ranking candidates will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.
Common Mistakes in Express Entry Applications
The relatively bland requirements of the Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades and Canadian Experience Class mask several pitfalls that can often trap the unwary applicant. It is worth noting that 52% of applicants who receive an ITA, subsequently have their applications refused. Many of these applicants have prepared and filed their own applications, without the expertise of a legal representative. Common mistakes resulting in refusal of an application include:

Misrepresenting employment, education, travel history or net worth

Failure of an Applicant’s bank to provide a certification letter in the specified format

Unexplained deposits into an Applicant’s bank account(s)

LinkedIn profile being inconsistent with the employment stated in their application

Failing IRCC verification checks regarding employment, travel history or net worth. Applicants are often shocked to learn that IRCC investigators may call current/previous employers. Your employment history may also be cross-referenced with income tax records
There are numerous other reasons for refusal cited by Canadian immigration officers, the above provides a small insight into the level of scrutiny your application will receive.
